Large Deviations and Random Energy Models

چکیده
A unified treatment for the existence of free energy in several random energy models is presented. If the sequence of distributions associated with the particle systems obeys a large deviation principle, then the free energy exists almost surely. This includes all the known cases as well as some heavy-tailed distributions. 1. Introduction. The purpose of this note is to bring out the essence involved in the existence theorems for the limiting free energy in several random energy models. Basically, they are corollaries to the large deviation principle (LDP) obeyed by certain empirical measures coupled with Varad-han's lemma. Since this note is addressed to probabilists, the results are first formulated in the large deviation setting and then the consequences to the spin glass models are explained in each section. At the first sight it may appear that the large deviation principles proved here are nothing but the well known principles for empirical measures, but however a little reflection shows that it is not so. For large deviation terminology, we refer to [4, 9]. We could have given the most general result of section 5 and then deduced all the results from it. Instead, we decided to go from simple model to the more general one, so that it is easier for the reader to follow.

Turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubic obstacles has been numerically investigated using large-eddy simulation. The simulations have been performed using high-performance computations with local cluster systems. The array of cubes are fully submerged in a simulated deep rough-wall atmospheric boundary-layer with high turbulence intensity characteristics of environmental turbulent fl...
متن کاملAn Introduction to Large Deviations for Random Graphs
This article gives an overview of the emerging literature on large deviations for random graphs. Written for the general mathematical audience, the article begins with a short introduction to the theory of large deviations. This is followed by a description of some large deviation questions about random graphs and an outline of the recent progress on this topic. A more elaborate discussion foll...
متن کاملLarge Deviations in Randomly Coloured Random Graphs
Models of random graphs are considered where the presence or absence of an edge depends on the random types (colours) of its vertices, so that whether or not edges are present can be dependent. The principal objective is to study large deviations in the number of edges. These graphs provide a natural example with two different non-degenerate large deviation regimes, one arising from large devia...
متن کاملDeviations from Perfect Memory in Spin Glass Temperature Cycling Experiments
We study the deviations from perfect memory in negative temperature cycle spin glass experiments. It is known that the a.c. susceptibility after the temperature is raised back to its initial value is superimposed to the reference isothermal curve for large enough temperature jumps ∆T (perfect memory). For smaller ∆T , the deviation from this perfect memory has a striking non monotonous behavior...
متن کاملFUZZY LINEAR REGRESSION BASED ON LEAST ABSOLUTES DEVIATIONS
This study is an investigation of fuzzy linear regression model for crisp/fuzzy input and fuzzy output data. A least absolutes deviations approach to construct such a model is developed by introducing and applying a new metric on the space of fuzzy numbers. The proposed approach, which can deal with both symmetric and non-symmetric fuzzy observations, is compared with several existing models by...
